Sweet Onion Jam


Just made a batch of this lush Sweet Onion Jam! Perfect for cheeses, meats, or just on a crispy toast! 😋🧅


1 kg sweet onions, thinly sliced
200 g brown sugar
150 ml balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
2 cloves of garlic, minced


In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and minced garlic, cooking until the onions are translucent.
Stir in brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, and sea salt.
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and caramelized, about 40-45 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in fresh thyme leaves.
Let the jam cool and transfer to sterilized jars for storage.
