Ingredients:
All-purpose flour: 2 cups
Baking powder: 1 tablespoon
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Unsalted butter, softened: 1/2 cup
Granulated sugar: 1 1/4 cups
Egg whites: 4
Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
Milk: 1 cup
Cotton candy, chopped: 1/2 cup (plus more for garnish)

For the Frosting:
Unsalted butter, softened: 1 cup
Powdered sugar: 4 cups
Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
Milk: 2–3 tablespoons

Directions:
Preheat and Prepare Pans:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg whites one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Mix in vanilla extract.
Combine with Dry Ingredients:
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
Color and Bake:
Divide the batter into two parts. Color one part pink and the other blue.
Fold chopped cotton candy into both batters.
Pour into prepared pans, swirl slightly for a marbled effect.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool completely before frosting.
Prepare Frosting:
In a bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, then milk until it reaches a spreading consistency.
Divide the frosting and tint with pink and blue food coloring.
Assemble the Cake:
Layer and frost the cake with alternating colors of frosting.
Garnish with additional chopped cotton candy just before serving.
