Zesty Lime and Garlic Thai Steamed Fish
Ingredients:
1 whole white fish (such as sea bass or snapper), cleaned and scaled
4 cloves garlic, minced
3-4 Thai bird’s eye chilies, chopped
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 stalk lemongrass, cut into 3-inch pieces and smashed
2-3 sprigs fresh cilantro, chopped
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
Steamed rice for serving
Directions:
Clean and scale the fish, then score it with three deep cuts on each side.
Place the fish in a heatproof dish that fits your steamer.
In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped chilies, lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and chicken broth.
Pour the mixture over the fish, ensuring it gets into the scored cuts.
Place the lemongrass pieces around the fish.
Steam the fish over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and sliced mushrooms (if using).
Serve hot with steamed rice.
