Ronny-Jay Fewtrell was born in the Royal Worcestershire Hospital weighing 11 lbs. 5 oz., or about a bowling ball or small dog. Midwives were shocked to learn that the enormous infant was the biggest they had ever weighed and that it needed to have its weight verified. Jade Bayer, the mother, 33, claimed that her boy was too large to fit in baby clothes and that she had to convert to three- to six-month-old baby clothes right away. After a 16-hour labor, the mother-of-four gave birth to Ronny-Jay naturally at 5:49 a.m. on April 5. However, she had essentially decided to have a cesarean surgery. Ronny is among the heaviest newborns in the UK, with the typical infant weighing about 7.5 lbs.

Amazingly, Jade claimed that her most recent delivery left her with a larger tummy than when she delivered twins. “We predicted that Ronny was going to be amazing from the beginning,” adds Jade. There was no need for me to initially conceal the fact that I was pregnant because I instantly matured. Since Ronny was larger than the twins, many people made fun of the fact that I was carrying twins once more.

“We had to get a weight check done on him when he was born since we had no idea what 5,000 grams meant. The conversion process, including the midwives were shocked and double-checked on the chart they had.”

One of them said he was the largest child to gain weight in history. His umbilical cord, according to the midwives, was like a zipper, which made them chuckle. He was very different from the growth charts, which provided an expected weight and length; I believe he was the size of a baby who had just turned four months old. She also had to stop breastfeeding her 12-week-old, thirsty, big baby since she was unable to meet his needs. After midwives saw he was drinking more than he could produce with breast milk, they advised the family to switch him to formula to prevent him from going hungry.

Ronny will probably be Jade and Scott Fewtrell’s last child, according to Jade, who shares a home with the 29-year-old laborer. Vinny and Shilo, their nine-year-old twins, weighed 7lbs 10z and 7lbs 6oz, respectively, while Analise, their 14-year-old daughter, weighed 9lbs 13.5oz. “On the surface, they just keep growing,” said full-time mother Jade. “Four children is enough for anyone.” I’ve contributed my fair part to the populace, and if they age further, you might end up with a stone child. Ronny is a healthy, content baby whose mother says he is “quite contented” except from his need for milk.

He might be one of the biggest newborns in the UK, but the midwife said he was the biggest baby on her scale, Jade continued. He is now in perfect health and gets along great with his devoted siblings. I am so grateful to the midwives for their unwavering assistance and cooperation with me and my baby during my grueling labor.
