Savory Hamburger Steaks with Rich Onion Gravy
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup water


Directions:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined and form into patties.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger steaks and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well. Gradually add the beef broth and water, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon some of the gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the steaks are cooked through.
Serve the hamburger steaks topped with the onion gravy.
