Rustic Italian Sausage and Tomato Spaghetti
Ingredients:
12 oz spaghetti
1 lb Italian sausage
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Parmesan cheese, for serving
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Directions:
Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbly. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add onion and garlic. Sauté until onion is translucent.
Return the sausage to the skillet. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce. Serve topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
