Homestyle Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons dry mustard
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 large egg
1/2 cup beef broth
8 oz sliced mushrooms
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef stock
Directions:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix until well blended.
Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the patties on both sides. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add butter and onions, sautéing until translucent. Add mushrooms and cook until browned.
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and onions, stir to coat, and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in beef stock and bring to a simmer. Return patties to the skillet.
Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the gravy is thickened and the patties are cooked through.
