Hamburger Buns Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water (110°F)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 egg (for egg wash)
Sesame seeds (optional)
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover the dough balls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the tops of the buns. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack.
