Enjoy a lunchtime favorite with Classic Meatball Subs—tender meatballs, zesty marinara, and melted mozzarella in a warm hoagie roll.
Ingredients:
• 1 pound ground beef
• 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 large egg
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
• 2 cups marinara sauce
• 6 hoagie rolls
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Form into 12 meatballs.
2. In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
3. Pour marinara sauce over meatballs, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Split the hoagie rolls and place meatballs evenly among them. Spoon extra marinara over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella.
5. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Serve hot with a sprinkle of fresh basil or parsley if desired.
